On November 18th, the Junior Researchers Council of CRC1238 hosted the first-ever “Slides & Slices” event—a delightful evening that combined pizza, connection, and interesting discussions about physics. Over 20 Master’s and PhD students gathered in the late afternoon to enjoy a casual yet enriching experience, featuring presentations by three speakers sharing their research and love for physics.
The event served three key purposes: First, it provided students with a platform to improve their presentation skills in a supportive and relaxed setting. Second, it fostered stronger connections and knowledge exchange among different groups within CRC1238. Finally, it showcased the exciting and diverse physics projects being pursued by junior researchers in the CRC.

The feedback was very positive. Participants appreciated the informal atmosphere, the delicious pizza, and the bingo game prepared by the organizers. Many stayed well beyond the official program to engage in lively discussions about their work and life within the CRC.

This successful evening marks the beginning of what we hope to become a cherished tradition. “Slides & Slices” will likely become a regular event in the CRC1238 calendar, bringing young researchers together to share knowledge, build our community, and, of course, enjoy some great pizza.
